According to the International Research Journal, over 88 percent of Indian women cannot afford sanitary pads and use cloths, newspapers and dried leaves. It is not halthy for women health. So, The state government of Kerala has launched She Pad scheme to provide free sanitary napkins for girls students for good health. Initially in She Pad Scheme 1st Phase, government had distributed free sanitary napkins in more than 300 government schools of the Kerala state.

She Pad Scheme – Free Sanitary Napkin Scheme
Kerala government has launched She Pad scheme to provide free sanitary napkins to girl students. Initially in She Pad Scheme 1st phase, the government had distributed free sanitary napkins in around 300 government schools in the state. Later in Phase II of the She-Pad scheme, the government extended the distribution of free sanitary napkins to girls in about 560 government schools. Additionally, the government has started awareness classes.
Under the She Pad scheme Phase 1 and Phase 2, sanitary pads, incinerators and storage boxes are provided to schools absolutely free of cost. This is a first of its kind scheme across the country to provide free sanitary napkins in government schools. Accordingly, thousands of women teachers and students are getting the benefits of She Pad Scheme. The benefit of the scheme will be extended to all government schools in the state.
Kerala She Pad Scheme Phase 1
The objective of the scheme is to enable free distribution of sanitary napkins to girl students in government schools. The plan is an attempt to normalize the public debate about menstrual hygiene. This is a good initiative of the government as menstrual hygiene is the right of every girl. The scheme will also help in raising awareness about the need for menstrual hygiene. The government has allocated funds to implement the She Pad scheme. This fund will be given by the local panchayats and the Kerala State Women Development Corporation.
The 1st phase of She Pad scheme was implemented in 300 schools in 114 panchayats by the Women’s Development Corporation in collaboration with the local self governments.
Kerala She Pad Scheme Phase 2
Government of Kerala. She has started PAD Scheme Phase 2 from 16 July 2019 as an awareness program on Menstrual Hygiene. In the second phase under this She-Pad scheme, the government is providing free sanitary napkins to the girl students of government/aided schools of Kerala. This year the second phase of the awareness program will be extended to 500 schools. Kerala State Women Development Corporation (KSWDC) government will implement this She Pad Scheme 2021 for the girls of schools.
