Government Health Insurance Schemes in India

Ayushman Bharat

This scheme was created due to the recommendations made by the Central Government through the National Health Policy. People in the age group of 18 to 60 years can take advantage of this. It is the world’s largest health insurance plan. In this, an annual health cover of Rs 5 lakh per family is given to poor families. According to the data released by the Government of India, there are more than 65 crore beneficiaries under this scheme. But till now only 16 crore beneficiaries have got Ayushman card.

Central Government Health Scheme

The Central Government Health Scheme is being run by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Under which health care is provided to all central government employees, pensioners and their dependents. A health card is given to each central employee to take advantage of this scheme. Through this CGHS card, all employees can get free treatment in government hospitals.

National Health Insurance Scheme

Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana was launched by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, Government of India. Under this scheme, the unorganized sector and individual workers below the poverty line have been included. This cover also extends to his family (up to five members). Often these people are not covered under any health insurance policy. In such a situation, this health insurance can prove to be very helpful for them.
