In Uttar Pradesh, the government has started the ‘Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana‘ under ‘Mission Shakti 5.0’. Under this scheme, financial assistance is being provided from the birth of the daughter till she grows up. At the time of the launch of this scheme, the UP government had ensured an amount of Rs 15,000. But last year it was increased to Rs 25,000. This will make the dreams of daughters come true and will give a new direction to the society.

This scheme provides financial assistance to families with girl children, disbursed in six installments based on specific milestones.  It encourages education and self-reliance among girls by providing lump-sum financial incentives.

Kanya Sumangala Yojana

The Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana is a flagship initiative by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 25,000 will be provided to girls in unequal installments at different levels from birth to 12th class. Poor families who consider girls a burden and kill them at birth or stop their education can change their negative thinking towards daughters through this scheme. By the year 2024, about 10 lakh families had availed the benefits of this scheme.

Financial Assistance Structure

Under this scheme, financial assistance totaling ₹25,000 is provided in six installments at different stages of a girl’s life.

  • At Birth: ₹2,000
  • After One Year (Post-Vaccination): ₹1,000
  • Admission to Class 1: ₹2,000
  • Admission to Class 6: ₹2,000
  • Admission to Class 9: ₹3,000
  • Enrollment in Graduation or Diploma Course: ₹5,000

Documents Required

Candidates wishing to avail the benefits of Kanya Sumangala Yojana will have to supply the following documents. You can see the information about the documents below.

Phase 1 (At Birth):

  • Latest photo of the girl child.
  • Joint photo of the girl child with the applicant.
  • Affidavit in the prescribed format.
  • Birth Certificate of the girl.

Phase 2 (After Vaccination):

  • Latest photo of the girl child.
  • Joint photo with the applicant.
  • Affidavit in the prescribed format.
  • Immunization Card.

Phase 3 (Admission in Class I):

  • Latest photo of the girl child.
  • Joint photo with the applicant.
  • Affidavit in the prescribed format.
  • Admission Certificate for Class I.
  • (Scanned Aadhaar copy – optional).

Phase 4 (Admission in Class VI):

  • Latest photo of the girl child.
  • Joint photo with the applicant.
  • Affidavit in the prescribed format.
  • Admission Certificate for Class VI.
  • (Scanned Aadhaar copy – optional).

Phase 5 (Admission in Class IX):

  • Latest photo of the girl child.
  • Joint photo with the applicant.
  • Affidavit in the prescribed format.
  • Admission Certificate for Class IX.
  • (Scanned Aadhaar copy – optional).

Phase 6 (After Class 12 & Higher Education Admission):

  • Latest photo of the girl child.
  • Joint photo with the applicant.
  • Affidavit in the prescribed format.
  • 10th/12th Certificate or Mark Sheet.
  • ID of the Institution.
  • Admission Fee Receipt for the Degree/Diploma course.
  • (Scanned Aadhaar copy – optional).

Eligibility Criteria

If you want to take advantage of the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Scheme, then you must fulfill the following eligibility.

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
  • The girl child must be born on or after April 1, 2019, to be eligible for the scheme.
  • At the time of application, the family income should not exceed Rs 3 lakh
  • Only maximum two daughters of a family will get the benefit of this scheme

How to apply for Kanya Sumangala Yojana?

You can apply for Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana in Uttar Pradesh both online and offline. However, to get quick benefits, it would be better to apply online. Offline applications will be accepted only in those cases when the applicant is not able to apply online.

  • First visit the official website of Kanya Sumangala Yojana – https://mksy.up.gov.in.
  • On the home page of the website, you have to click on the option of “New User-Register Yourself”.
  • Now a registration form will open in which you will have to enter all the required information.
  • After entering the information, you will have to complete the registration process by clicking on the option of “Register”.
  • After registration, you will receive a user ID with the help of which you will have to login back to the portal.
  • After logging in, the application form of the scheme will open which has to be filled carefully.
  • After filling the application form, important documents have to be scanned and uploaded.
  • After doing this, you have to click on the option of “Submit”.
  • After doing this, the process of online application under Kanya Sumangala Yojana will be completed.
